The long-awaited Nintendo Direct has come and gone, giving gaming enthusiasts plenty to digest until their favorite games have been released. Highly anticipated titles such as the new Fire Emblem and The Legend of Zelda have been teased, and an old friend is making a return in the form of Pikmin. Here is a rundown of the most hyped games revealed during the recent Nintendo Direct:
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (May 12, 2023)
The long-awaited sequel (or prequel?) to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Link takes to the sky, wielding new magic powers and a rusted Master Blade.
Bayonetta 3 (October 28, 2022)
The witch with wild hair and magic to spare is back to save humanity from nightmarish monsters. Is set to come to Nintendo Switch next month.
Kirby’s Return to Dream Land Deluxe (February 24, 2023)
Originally a Wii title from 2011, players can group up into teams of 4 to help the Magolor and wield a new Mecha Copy Ability.
Fire Emblem Engage (January 20, 2023)
A new entry in the legendary Fire Emblem series, players can equip rings that correspond to the heroes of old to triumph in battle.
Octopath Traveler II (2023)
Eight new travelers walk the land of Solista, each with their own tale to tell for those eager to listen.
Pikmin 4 (2023)
For the first time since 2013, plant and grow little helpers to make your way on an alien planet.
Tales of Symphonia Remastered (2023)
Uncover the secrets of an ancient war and regenerate a dying world with the aid of powerful mages and spirits. Fans of the classic title have expressed disappointment that this remaster will be locked at 30 FPS.
Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse (2023)
Return to the island of horrors to confront the restless dead and put them to rest with the power of a camera.
Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Expansion Pass Wave 2 (October 13, 2022)
A DLC pack for Xenoblade Chronicles 3, which brings a cute anime robot girl.
Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life (Summer 2023)
A remake of a 2003 GameCube title, players can once again live life as they wish on their farm.
Theatrhythm Final Bar Line (February 16, 2023)
Move to the beat through different historical moments across the Final Fantasy series. Players can expect 385 songs at launch, and more than 500 songs with DLC.
Rune Factory 3 Special (Spring 2023)
Players must work on a farm and revive a special tree to prevent the end of the world. A remake of a DS title originally released in Japan in 2009, the US in 2010, and the EU in 2011. A true favorite for all Nintendo fans.
Numerous Nintendo 64 titles for Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pass
A blast from the past as different beloved Nintendo 64 titles are brought to the Nintendo Switch via its Expansion Pass. Of note is that Pokemon Stadium 1 and 2 will not have any connectivity to their respective GameBoy titles, and GoldenEye 007 will only have online play on the Nintendo Switch.
Atelier Ryza 3: Alchemist of the End & the Secret Key (2023)
Another magical, alchemical adventure for Reisalin “Ryza” Stout is coming to Nintendo next year.
Harvestella (November 4, 2022)
Find the crystals to protect the seasons. A demo for this game is available right now.
Resident Evil cloud versions (2023)
Four Resident Evil titles are launching on Nintendo Switch via cloud services in 2022.
