ClariS Performs Lycoris Recoil Opening “ALIVE” on The First Take

ClariS, best known for the Puella Magi Madoka Magica‘s opening theme song “Connect,” performed Lycoris Recoil‘s opening theme song “ALIVE” on THE FIRST TAKE. On the same day, the song’s “LycoReco Version,” which played in the final episode of Lycoris Recoil, was released on digital streaming platforms. The pop music duo made their first appearance on the YouTube channel with “Connect” at the end of September 2022.

The official Twitter account of THE FIRST TAKE made a preview post on the previous day, captioned: THE FIRST TAKE OUT AT “WEDNESDAY” 22:00. The YouTube channel describes the concept as:
A microphone and a white studio. And 1 rule. You’ve got 1 TAKE. Perform anything you like. Show us everything you’ve got for that 1 moment. ONE TAKE ONLY, ONE LIFE ONLY. THE FIRST TAKE

Japanese pop music duo ClariS, originally a unit of Alice and Clara named Alice☆Clara, used to post cover songs on DOWANGO’s Japanese video sharing platform niconico. They made their debut with the Ore no Imoto ga Konna ni Kawaii Wake ga Nai‘s opening theme song “irony” in October 2010. In June 2014, they released the 3rd album “PARTY TIME” and Alice left the group, but in November, a new member Karen joined. In 2022, the band released the 24th CD single with “ALIVE” for Lycoris Rycoil anime’s opening theme song on August 3 and the 25th CD single with Shadows House Season 2‘s ending theme song “Masquerade” on September 11.

Studio A-1 Pictures produced the original Lycoris Recoil anime, which aired from July to September 2022. The story was written by Asaura, known for his battles-over-bento-boxes light novel Ben-To, while the characters were designed by Imigimuru, the author of This Art Club Has a Problem manga. Shingo Adachi, who is known as the chief animation director in the Sword Art Online series, directed the series. The anime was voted as our fans’ Best Anime of the Summer 2022 Season.
