Naruto anime series is making its 20th anniversary today, as the first episode aired 20 years ago on October 3, 2002. To celebrate the event, the series launched an official website, and the manga’s author Masashi Kishimoto drew a commemorative illustration along with his comment.
The newly released illustration shows a number of the Naruto Uzumakis and his clones, created by his Clone Jutsu “Taju Kagebunshin no Jutsu.” The Naruto (Hokage) is at the center between the Naruto (childhood) on the right and the Naruto (juvenile) on the left, and in front of them stands a large makimono roll that says “Naruto 20th Anniversary.” The written text is Kishimoto’s appreciation to fans: “The anime’s 20th anniversary!! To all of you, Taju Kagebunshin no Jutsu as thanks!!!“
The author’s comment came with the illustration: Anime “NARUTO” has marked its 20th anniversary! “NARUTO OFFICIAL SITE” launched today to celebrate it and it’s made to not only entertain fans from Japan, but from overseas! As the anniversary year, various projects will be going on, so I’d like you to check the information on this website! Stay tuned, everyone!
The official website also released a series of newly drawn visuals to look back on the story’s history.
It was also announced that a new trailer titled “Road to Naruto” will be posted on Studio Pierrot’s YouTube channel on October 3 at 7 in the evening (JST).
