The first part of the upcoming Seven Deadly Sins: Grudge of Edinburgh film released a preview trailer along with theme song information. Studios Alfred Imageworks and Marvy Jack are animating the adaptation. The film is exclusive to the streaming platform and the premiere date is set for December 20, 2022.
The plot was newly written by the manga author Nakaba Suzuki for the film, and it depicts the world after 14 years after the battle against the Demon Clan. The film bridges between the original Seven Deadly Sins series and its sequel Seven Deadly Sins: Four Knights of the Apocalypse.
Hiroyuki Sawano’s vocal project SawanoHiroyuki[nZk] and XAI are co-producing the theme song titled “LEMONADE” as SawanoHiroyuki[nZk]:XAI. The newly-posted preview trailer for the Seven Deadly Sins: Grudge of Edinburgh Part 1 shows a part of the song. You can check the video on Netflix’s official YouTube channel below:
The film introduces the plot in English as:
14 years since the Kingdom of Liones defeated the Demon Clan and brought peace to the land, Prince Tristan is tormented by his inability to control two great powers: the Demon Clan power of his father, Meliodas, who served as captain of the Seven Deadly Sins as the Dragon Sin of Wrath, and the Goddess Clan power of his mother, Elizabeth. When Elizabeth’s life is threatened, Tristan flees the kingdom and heads toward Edinburgh, where Deathpierce — who was once a member of a group of the kingdom’s Holy Knights, the Pleiades of the Azure Sky — maintains his castle. But what are Deathpierce’s intentions? The wheel of fate begins to move and sweeps up even The Seven Deadly Sins…
Seven Deadly Sins was originally a manga series written and illustrated by Nakaba Suzuki in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine. The manga inspired anime adaptations with 4 seasons and 3 movies; A-1 Pictures animated the first two seasons and Prisoners of the Sky movie, and Studio DEEN took care of season 3 and season 4, and Cursed by Light movie. The series’ sequel, Four Knights of the Apocalypse is receiving an anime adaptation.
