A new Sword Art Online movie project has been announced during the franchise’s 10th anniversary event. The movie will follow a new and original story. A teaser trailer has been revealed:
Sword Art Online marked its 10th anniversary on July 8, 2022. The franchise held its actual celebration on November 6, 2022, in an event called Sword Art Online: Full Dive. An opening video for the event was also released earlier today. The cast of the series such as Yoshitsugu Matsuoka (Kirito), Haruka Tomatsu (Asuna), Miyuki Sawahiro (Sinon), Rina Hidaka (Silica), and more attended the event. The voice actress of Leafa, Ayana Taketatsu wasn’t able to attend the event because she recently gave birth to her child.
A voice drama about the events after each arc of the series was held, and the performers of the anime’s theme song, ASCA, ReoNa, and Eir Aoi also sang their pieces whenever the drama is on break. Yuki Kajura, the composer of different SAO music also performed and played an actual piano. At the end of the performance, LiSA made a surprise appearance and performed the very first SAO opening song, Crossing Field. If you’re not aware, LiSA wasn’t included on the announced guest list of the event. November 6, 2022, is a very important day in the Sword Art Online series because it is the day the SAO incident began in the original light novel and anime series.
The Sword Art Online anime series premiered on July 8, 2012, and it had multiple seasons with 4 movies over the past 10 years. Tomohiko Ito directed the first 2 seasons and the first 2 movies titled Sword Art Online: Extra Edition and Sword Art Online: Ordinal Scale.
