Voice actors Jun Fukuyama and Akio Otsuka are joining the cast of the Ishura anime as Hoshihase Ars and Seijaku Naru Hargend respectively. Kadokawa is producing the anime, which will be streamed by Disney+ worldwide. There is still no information on the studio.
Jun Fukuyama is known for his roles as Lelouch Lamperouge in Code Geass, Koro-sensei in Assassination Classroom, Ichimatsu in Osomatsu-san, Yuta Togashi in Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions, Kraft Lawrence in Spice and Wolf, Kimihiro Watanuki in xxxHOLiC, and Joker in Persona 5. His most recent roles include Takafumi Takaoka in Uncle from Another World, Masaya Hayami in The Yakuza’s Guide to Babysitting, and Boxxo in the upcoming Reborn as a Vending Machine, I Now Wander the Dungeon anime.
Meanwhile, Akio Otsuka is known for his roles as All For One in My Hero Academia, Bryan Hawk in Hajime no Ippo, Wamuu in Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure, Shunsui Kyouraku in Bleach, Blackbeard and Marshall D. Teach in One Piece, and Thorkell in Vinland Saga. His most recent roles include Seido Hishigata in Summertime Rendering, Gruer in The Genius Prince’s Guide to Raising a Nation Out of Debt, Ekubo in Mob Psycho 100 III, and the WISE Director in Spy × Family.
Previously, the Ishura anime announced main cast members. They include Reina Ueda (Terror in Resonance, Little Witch Academia, SSSS.Gridman) as Tooi Kagizume no Yuno, and Yuki Kaji (Hellsing Ultimate, Black Butler, Blue Exorcist) as Yanagi no Tsurugi no Sojiro.
The Ishura anime is based on a light novel series of the same name by Keiso and illustrated by Kureta. It started off as a web novel, before being picked by ASCII Media Works, which published it under their Dengeki no Shin Bungei imprint. A total of five volumes are currently out. Yen Press licensed the series in English and describes the plot as:
In a world where the Demon King has died, a host of demigods capable of felling him have inherited the world. A master fencer who can figure out how to take out their opponents with a single glance; a lancer so swift they can break the sound barrier; a wyvern rogue who fights with three legendary weapons at once; an all-powerful wizard who can speak thoughts into being; an angelic assassin who deals instant death.
