The previously announced Given sequel is a movie that will be broadcast in two parts, as announced earlier this week. To commemorate the announcement, the popular BL series also revealed a recap video looking back on the story so far:
This is the second movie in the franchise. It was announced earlier this year with a teaser video. Given TV anime premiered in the summer of 2019. It had 11 episodes. The movie, which was 60 minutes long, came out in 2020. Studio Lerche animated both.
The anime is based on a manga by Natsuki Kizu. It started serialization in 2013 in Shinshokan’s Cheri+ magazine. SuBLime licensed it in English. In addition to the TV anime and movie, the Given series also has an OVA from 2021, titled Given: on the other hand (also Lerche).
Crunchyroll streamed the anime and described the plot as:
Somehow, the guitar that he used to love to play and the basketball games that he found so fun just lost their appeal… That was until Ritsuka Uenoyama randomly met Mafuyu Sato. Ritsuka had started losing his passion for music in his everyday life, but then he hears Mafuyu sing for the first time. The song resonates with his heart and the distance between them starts to change.
