Attack on Titan’s Eren (Yes, Eren) Will Conduct An Interview With Japan State Broadcaster

Eren Yeager from Attack on Titan will officially be the first anime character to have an interview on NHK’s The Professionals program. Attack on Titan has established itself in recent years as one of the most talked-about anime of its generation, through its animation, soundtrack, and indisputable global reach. Perhaps, some of the conversation has come from its unique naming conventions as Attack on Titan: The Final Season Part 3 (Part 2) is set to air November 4. Before then, the series will make further waves as Attack on Titan protagonist Eren Yeager agrees to a sit down with Japan’s state broadcaster, NHK.

This interview won’t be a deep dive into Eren’s voice actor Yuki Kaji, per se, but with the actual personality of Eren. NHK General TV will feature Eren on the October 23 edition of The Professionals (Professional: Shigoto no Ryugi), which is described by NHK World-Japan as such:

The meaning of professional. Meet exceptional people who are breaking new ground and making a difference in their area of expertise.

Recent segments followed Maeda Naoki, a fish shop owner, and Sasaki Miwa, the child life specialist.

NHK describes the nature of the sitdown as:

Attack on Titan is an anime that depicts a fierce battle between humans and giants. Ahead of the broadcast of the final episode (part 2, November 5th), “Professional Work Style” focuses on the main character, Eren Jaeger! A man who has continued to struggle as a soldier in the Survey Corps. We will take a closer look at the work style.

What does Eren seek and continue fighting for? And what does “professional” mean to Ellen?!

The interview will feature other characters from Attack on Titan alongside Eren, including Mikasa Ackermann, Armin Arlert, Levi Ackerman, and others. The program will be narrated by Satoshi Hashimoto, who voiced in the 2005 anime The King of Fighters: Another Day, and Shihori Kanjiya, who starred in the 2017 live-action adaptation of Hyouka, Hyouka: Forbidden Secrets.

Kodansha holds the North American license to the Attack on Titan manga, which will also be receiving a new art book and an extra Volume 35. They describe the series as such:

A century ago, the grotesque giants known as Titans appeared and consumed all but a few thousand humans. The survivors took refuge behind giant walls. Today, the threat of the Titans is a distant memory, and a boy named Eren yearns to explore the world beyond Wall Maria. But what began as a childish dream will become an all-too-real nightmare when the Titans return and humanity is once again on the brink of extinction… Attack on Titan is the award-winning and New York Times-bestselling series that is the manga hit of the decade! Spawning the monster hit anime TV series of the same name, Attack on Titan has become a pop culture sensation.
