Jujutsu Kaisen revealed a new illustration of Sukuna ahead of the episode 17. The episode is slated to premiere on November 16 and is a continuation of the Shibuya Incident arc.
Studio MAPPA returned to animate the sequel, this time under the direction of Shota Goshozono. In addition to the TV anime, the franchise also has a prequel movie, Jujutsu Kaisen 0, which was also animated by the same studio. The plot takes place after the Hidden Inventory/Premature Death arc but before the events of the first season. Recently, the studio has been under criticism due to badscheduling which led to production issues, with many animators speaking out against the practices on Twitter/X. The same studio worked on the first season and the movie.
Jujutsu Kaisen is based on a manga by Gege Akutami that is currently being serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine. The manga launched on March 5, 2018, and has since become one of the most popular shonen titles of today. Viz Media is publishing it in English and fans can also read it on Shueisha’s MANGA Plus app for free, but only for most recent chapters.
