Alice to Therese no Maboroshi Koujou (Alice and Therese’s Illusion Factory) will be streaming on Netflix starting on January 15. Studio MAPPA animated the movie, which was directed by Mari Okada. Netflix is seemingly licensing the movie as Maboroshi, as evident on the poster, which was posted with a “The urge to fall in love will destroy the world.” tagline.
The movie premiered on September 15 in Japan. Junya Enoki voices Kikuiri Masamune, Reina Ueda is Sagami Mutsumi and Misaki Kino is Itsumi. Koji Seto and Kento Hayashi are also a part of the cast, as Akimune and Tokimune Kikuiri. The staff for the Alice to Therese no Maboroshi Koujou (Alice and Therese’s Illusion Factory) movie includes:
- Assistant Director: Tadashi Hiramatsu
- Character Design: Yuriko Ishi
- Chief Animation Design: Yuriko Ishi
- Music: Masaru Yokoyama
- Art Director: Kazuki Higashiji
- Theme Song Performer: Miyuki Nakajima (“Shin-On”)
Okada, who is also writing the script for the original movie, previously stated that she wanted to recreate the atmosphere she felt as a child while watching Japanese movies and anime movies. Boys will be the main characters in this movie which will depict the “tingling feeling of youth” instead of sweet and sour teenage drama. Mari Okada is known for her work on stories that depict youth and emotions, but most of them were told from the female perspective.
