The Call of the Night manga has officially ended, with the final, 200th chapter on January 24 in the ninth issue of this year’s Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine. The manga’s main duo, Ko Yamori and Nazuna Nanakusa, graced the magazine’s latest cover.
It is worth noting that the author, Kotoyama, announced that he planned to have Call of the Night end with the 200th chapter in November of last year. Following the manga’s conclusion, Kotoyama posted a special illustration featuring Nazuna Nanakusa, thanking fans for all of the support they have shown for the series.
The Call of the Night manga, written and illustrated by Kotoyama, started serialization in August 2019. It won the 68th Shogakukan Manga Award in the shonen category, along with Ao no Orchestra (Blue Orchestra). Viz Media has licensed the manga in English, describing the plot as:
One sleepless night, Ko slips out to walk the streets. Life after dark is a revelation! When flirtatious Nazuna invites Ko to spend the night at her place in an abandoned building, he’s stoked! But then he awakens to kisses on his neck with a little too much bite to them… Is it just the delicious taste of his blood that makes her meet him night after night for late-night adventures, conversation and…naps? Or something else? Then, when a cute girl from Ko’s past shows up and competes for his attention, his budding relationship with the undead is put to the test!
An anime adaptation, which aired from July to September 2022, was animated by LIDEN FILMS. The anime had Tomoyuki Itamura as the director, Tetsuya Miyanishi as the chief animation director, Haruka Sagawa as the character designer, and Michiko Yokote as a scriptwriter. Yoshiaki Dewa handled the music while Norihiko Yokomatsu was the art director.
