Mankitsu Happening Celebrates Its 10th Anniversary

Mankitsu Happening, a hentai recognized worldwide for its peculiar comedy plot, as been out for 10 years since its release.

Origin

This adult anime is based on Mankitsu Happening (漫喫ハプニング), an eroge produced by Waffle and released on June 27, 2014.

The A1C company, under its Collaboration Works label, released its first episode on March 27, 2015. Its animated version concluded on August 28 of the same year with four episodes.

Story

After a string of failed jobs, Keiichi Oyamada lands work at a small manga cafe. Things seem to be looking up from day one. His best friend is his manager and he gets to work alongside the beautiful Rei Suzukawa. Also, his cute childhood friend, Kururu Hiiragi, is a regular—and she’s all grown up!

So why couldn’t Keiichi hold down a job before? Due to a series of bizarre coincidences, he always seems to end up having sex with every single female coworker! Although he hopes to finally end this deadly cycle, Keiichi will soon find out that bad habits die hard.

Reception

Mankitsu Happening had a good, though moderate, reception in Japan. While it didn’t reach the sales figures of Lovely x Cation The Animation, it managed to position itself as one of the best-selling titles in the year of its release.

However, its impact abroad was much more significant. Thanks to its unusual plot, its charismatic waifus, and the exposure it received through piracy websites and users on social media platforms like YouTube, Mankitsu Happening became one of the most popular and highly regarded hentais in recent years.

Trivia

The hentai was animated by Imagin and directed by Matano Ryuuzou.
Yuika and An Kasuga, the voices of Otona Mitsuki and Sayaka Midou, are the only seiyuu who participate in both the eroge and its animated adaptation.
Rei Suzukawa is one of the most popular female characters currently.
In the manga café, you can see covers from various animated series, the most notable ones being: Tsugou no Yoi Sexfriend?, Yabai! Fukushuu Yami Site, Gakuen de Jikan yo Tomare, Kyonyuu Fantasy, and Maki-chan to Nau.
